Welcome to Church Hurt in America! This website is dedicated exclusively to Church Hurt. This term is relatively new but the concept is not. Paul experienced this in 1 Thessalonians 2 and was experienced in the Church of Corinth as well. In the past these problems were swept under the rug or just ignored. Yet as bullying plagues the world it also plagues the church. Church Hurt is being discussed more and the problem is increasing. False prophets are rising in number which add to the problem. As a church its time to stand united not divided. To know who the real culprit is behind these problems. The bully is satan; he is the enemy. We are not each other’s enemy and the Lord certainly is not the enemy. Its time to stop feeding this bully and put him in his rightful place.
Church hurt occurs when someone in the church has hurt another in the church. This is both with malicious and non-malicious intent. This can be one on one or in groups. Usually this is habitual and repetitive in nature but can be a one-time incident. This can be physical, verbal, mental, emotional or even sexual in nature. It can leave physical and emotional scars that only through restoration by God a person can be healed. It normally happens in a church but can happen in any organization that is ministry based. This could be a job, mission field, someone’s home or anywhere believers congregate. This can happen at any time day or night. Church hurt involves the abuser, the abused and those who are audience members in the congregation. This can happen as child, sexual, domestic, verbal, emotional, peer or any other form of abuse. It happens because we are all imperfect sinners. We will be imperfect until we reach heaven. Therefore, problems we have with one another will plague us while on earth. Even though the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us we still have the carnal nature to contend with. Hence the reason why this problem continues to fester.
